Pear Puff Pastry Tart

A recipe that works for breakfast or dessert? Count me in. Also would pear *haha* really well with cheese.

Time: 30-45 minutes (not including time it takes to thaw)

Serves: 6-10 depending on cut size

you’ll need:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (I really Iike Trader Joe’s - found in the freezer)

  • 1 - 2 pears (can substitute apple) cut into thin slices

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Add parchment paper to a cookie sheet or baking tray.

  2. Thaw and roll out your puff pastry sheet onto your parchment paper

  3. Melt two tablespoons of butter in the microwave for 20 second intervals until mostly or fully melted. Add in brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, and vanilla. Stir together and spoon or brush about half of it onto the puff pastry.

  4. Add your pear slices onto the puff pastry - leaving about an inch around the edges empty. Once you have them all layed out, brush or drizzle on the remainder of the melted butter mix.

  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes - keep an eye on the puff pastry so it doesn’t burn !

  6. Remove from the oven, let it cool for a couple of minutes then cut and serve.

Notes:

  • you can prep this ahead of time, even overnight and just throw it in the oven when you’re ready to cook

  • this works well with apples, cut strawberries, or even mixed berries!
